So…2021…it was a funny old year. I sat down trying to sum up what the world has been like in 2021 – but I’m no journalist – and I’m pretty bloody sure no one wants reminding of just how ball bags a lot of the year was…especially winter and spring! But, things did get better and I’m gonna just try to talk about weddings and wedding photography – if I do too much social commentary then someone may want to give me a big smack in the face! So…weddings! They were back! And man it’s been an incredible year. I’ve been up and down the country shooting some monumental parties and it’s been such an amazing feeling being able to document people giving it large on the dance floor again! It didn’t come without some hiccups though. We weren’t really allowed to fully party until late spring and just like 2020, so many of my couples had to make postponements AGAIN. But my couples have been so so amazing keeping me on and believe me it has meant a lot! I’m incredibly thankful to be still here and riding the wave of weddings, good times and all that love! Not ashamed to admit, at the end of the night when saying goodbye, I’ve been close to tears when giving them a hug! (HUGS! That’s another thing, they were back too!)

There have been A LOT of highlights this year and it’s so hard to not mention them all – I’ve certainly seen some scenes; wild horses along the River Wye, half-naked bodies on the dance floor, shots on snow-skis, Espresso Martinis for days, brides and grooms on shoulders, burley-bearded bridesmen, oompah bands…….I could go on but let’s just say it’s been a wild ride and long may it continue!

It’s been heartbreaking to hear stories from couples who have had to postpone time and time again, and all the stress and problems that has come along with it. Many of my couples were key workers or have been on the front line in the NHS, and communicating and listening to the things they’ve had to endure, both with their weddings and their personal lives has been eye opening. In some ways, it made it that much more special to see their smiley happy faces finally get married! As always – my year round up posts are all about saying thank you, so thank you guys! Thanks for keeping me on as your photographer, thanks for emailing me to check my availability and importantly thanks for being so amazing! 2021, you had some shit moments, but bloody hell, things really did pick up –  and thankfully continue to do so.
